annual report by herring

With the current challenges in the energy market, it was important for Noble to report their recent accomplishments and communicate their plan of moving forward with confidence. With a minimal design and a clear message, we helped Noble Energy connect with their shareholders and developed their 2015 Annual Report. Spectra Energy, one of North America’s leading pipeline and midstream companies, wanted their message for the 2015 annual report to be a bit more personal than previous years. The leadership is very passionate about the role natural gas has in this country’s ongoing energy discussion and we had to make sure that this message would connect with the audience.

Herring-Creative Courage

Being a fearless designer can be hard these days. But James Victore believes with simple ink on paper we can change the hearts and minds of the public. So the designer has the responsibilty to have creative courage in spite of the circumstances.

Houston AIGA had the pleasure of hosting Victore at Sundance theaters. In the design world, he’s a celebrity. Last week I joined a trip to The Printing Museum. Believe it or not, adults go on field trips too. As the largest growing AIGA chapter, it is apparent Houston is a city bustling with new ideas. The exhibition Design Now: Houston validates the city’s relevance in the design world. The jurors, Matteo Bologna, Ellen Lupton and Claudia De Almeida, are experts of the field.

The exhibition consists of 14 categories ranging from publication to environmental to web/interactive. Among the finalists’ work was a theme of Houston culture, while maintaining a visual solution for a client’s problem.

Career Day

Students eagerly participate in our discussion on Math, Science, Doodles, and Design.

A month ago, my fellow Herring designer, Doug, and I went to Crockett Elementary for a career day organized by iEducateUSA, an organization that helps elementary and middle school students to strengthen their math and science skills, as well as inspire them with possible career choices. Our goal was to get kids excited about design as a possible future career.
