Founded in 2016 as a subsidiary of Riviera Resources, Blue Mountain Midstream is a Houston- and Oklahoma City-based company that offers a full suite of midstream services. As a rapidly growing company, Blue Mountain needed a new brand that would reflect its forward-looking business goals and solidify its place among the competition. With a long history of building successful brands for clients in the oil and gas industry, Herring was the perfect fit to tackle the task.

Brand Development
During the discovery interviews, we established that for Blue Mountain Midstream — a community-facing company with audiences in and outside of the oil and gas industry — it is essential to have a visual brand language that reflects the company’s commitment to efficiency, good customer service, safety, and transparency.
With the name “Blue Mountain” rooted in Oklahoma’s natural landscape and Central Oklahoma as the heart of the company’s operations, we aimed to emphasize the connection to the region and its community by developing a brand identity that is approachable yet instills confidence.
The new Blue Mountain logo combines in itself a two-peaked mountain, as well as two intertwined M’s. The bold typography adds the sense of stability, while the angles in the graphic mark signal growth. The visual language supporting the logo makes use of contrast and restraint to create visuals that are engaging, friendly and accessible, yet sophisticated.
